Corporate Social Responsibility

At Downlands Architectural Design & Surveying take our Corporate Social Responsibility very seriously. At DADS we concentrate on Environmental, Ethical and Philanthropic aspects within our policy.

Environmental – Waste Reduction, Sustainable Sourcing, Renewable Energy.

We are continually evaluating our environmental impact of our operations with minimal paper production, online communications, smart controls in the office and minimising travel with smart planning.

Ethical – Fair Labour Standards, Transparent Governance, Diversity & Inclusion.

We are a small practice but provide higher than expected salaries for our staff. Where we cannot support diversity and inclusion directly due to our size we support this in the wider community.

Philanthropic – Grantmaking, Employee giving and volunteering, Nonprofit Partnerships

DADS actively encourages employees to volunteer in the community. Ashley volunteers with Scouts in East Sussex and supports on a wider level also. We give additional paid leave for employees to volunteer in the community.

We also actively support career development in local colleges. We have taken work experience students for one or two weeks nearly every year for the past eleven years. We support with mock interviews in colleges in Uckfield and Newhaven along with attending careers fairs etc in Uckfield and other colleges.

We have also taken a student from East Sussex College whilst on a T level course in Planning Design & Surveying for 315 hours over the past 12 months. This student is now joining the practice as an apprentice whilst studying for their degree in Building Surveying at Brighton University.
